Newsflash - August 2017
Step by step we’re moving forward
Earlier this year we shared our vision for the PE Emmaus Community to be
A vibrant, financially viable Christian Community offering regular fellowship and other opportunities before and after full Flights and Walks in growing God’s kingdom
That journey has begun with a variety of events, two successful flights, a spirit-filled jol/gathering and small financial gains ... Yes, step by step we’re moving forward, so thank you! Now please help us in ensuring the success of the 2017 Emmaus Walks too.
Emmaus Walks Appeal
With the Men’s and Women’s Walks 69 and 70 taking place from 7 to 11 and 14 to 17 September respectively, we’re appealing for you to:
- Offer financial support for those who are willing to work but unable to pay the full fee of R900.
- Serve on team, especially the Men’s Walk, by urgently completing a team application form here https://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/teams.php
- Spiritually sponsor a pilgrim http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php. The cut-off dates are 23rd August and 30th August for Men and Women respectively.
Praise and worship
Dust off your guitar, shine up your brass instruments and warm those vocal chords for a Praise and Worship session at St John’s Methodist Church on Saturday 5 August at 10am. It’s here that the winner of the Karoo lamb raffle will be drawn. If you’d still like a ticket, contact Viv Barton on 082 880 5099.
A number of board portfolios will become available later this year. We need a new treasurer, supplies and logistics co-ordinator and an IT whizz (well, anyone who can post on digital platforms!) Those who serve on the Board may not work on Flights or Walks as per the Upper Room’s agreements, except, of course, as the board rep.
In line with the recent restructuring of the EMSA board and community boards around the country, Emmaus Walks, Chrysalis Flights and all other programmes offered by the Upper Room will be shared on one Facebook page.
You are encouraged to like the new page https://www.facebook.com/emmausPE/ and tell your friends to like it too. We will close down the present Chrysalis and Emmaus groups immediately after the next set of Walks.
Please note this new page is for the sharing of events, appeals and news relating to Emmaus and Chrysalis only. The page will be also be an open one as part of a drive towards transparency and in sharing the Emmaus movement’s programmes as tools for empowering Christians to grow God’s kingdom here on earth.
