Sitrusoewer, May walks
Emmaus programmes – sponsorship is key
The Emmaus ministry with its various programmes – Walks, Flights, Face to Face and Journey to the Table – all have the same end goal: to inspire, empower and equip people to grow the Lord’s kingdom here on earth.
These programmes are not aimed at simply providing Christians with a blessed weekend experience or for “fixing” those who have been experiencing tough times, but rather to help deepen an individual’s relationship with God towards meeting His purpose in that person’s life. That purpose will include being a disciple – serving the church and community.
When you appreciate the why of Emmaus, then you better appreciate the importance of good sponsorship.
Ask the Lord to help you discern who you should spiritually sponsor for the forthcoming May Walks.
- Walk 71 (Lay Director Russell Richards) from 10 to 13 May
- Walk 72 (Lay Director Lynn Forman) from 17 to 20 May
Spiritual sponsorship entails prayer and practical support. You will need to get your pilgrim to and from Sumcay, ensure that all is taken care of during their time on the walk, and continue to walk alongside them after the weekend as they enter their Fourth Days. Many of us can share what great joy sponsorship brings, simply by witnessing the growth and change in these individuals, especially as they enter new ministries or rekindle existing ones and grow God’s kingdom.
Applications forms for pilgrims
Applications for you to sponsor pilgrims are now open, so go online http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php to print out the forms which need to be signed by you and by the pilgrim’s minister since all pilgrims need to be in good standing in their own churches.
A few team spots available
Thank you to those who responded to the call to serve on team. You will be blessed for your commitment. We have just five slots left for the ladies’ walk and eight for the men. Don’t miss out on this opportunity. Go to https://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/teams.php.
