Of camping, cameras and Chinese food

If food, fellowship and lighting the odd braai fire in scenic, laidback surrounds appeal to you and your family and friends, then take advantage of the forthcoming camping weekend at Sitrusoewer in the Sundays River Valley.

Camping or lunch-time braai
Come join fellow Christians camping on the banks of the Sundays River just outside Kirkwood from 23 to 25 February, or come on Saturday, 24 February for the lunch-time braai. Please bring your own meat, drinks and chairs and a bring ‘n share salad. For more details contact Charmaine Potgieter on 084 929 2884 or registrar@pe-emmaus.co.za. The more the merrier.

Chinese food and bingo evening
On that note, the above fellowship event was hugely successful. More than 170 people enjoyed authentic Chinese food, learnt how to use chopsticks and played more than 10 rounds of bingo. More than R12 000 was raised towards hosting walks in May and September this year.

As shared, the R950 team and pilgrim fee does not cover all costs and so the Community hosts events to help raise funds, but is also reliant on donations and monthly pledges.

Pledges and donations
Thank you to those who quietly give a monthly pledge or a once-off donation. We pray for more in line with our vision to become “financially viable”, especially as we head to our 20th birthday year and the hosting of the national EMSA AGM in November 2019.

As part of the latter quest, and to improve all-round convenient communication to a growing community of around 2000, we have begun a process of improving our website. It has started with a tweaking of our logo (corporate identity), and will be ongoing.

We are seeking members of the community to assist us with this – especially with supporting photographs. So calling all lens men – photographers – to snap a few shots for us of Sumcay, and of churches and other places where we host gatherings and the like. Please liaise with Vanessa Scarr on secretary@pe-emmaus.co.za who is leading this project.

May Walks
Is God calling you during this Lenten period to get more involved? It may not be too late to serve. Go to the website for more details http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php
