Walk sponsorship deadline
DO not delay with your sponsorship applications as the deadline for Walks 71 and 72 (Men 10 to 13 May and women 17 to 20 May) is Tuesday, 24 April.
Your role as the spiritual sponsor is key as you oversee both the practical and prayer needs of your pilgrim. Discuss the walk with them, share what happens and how the walk is not solely for their benefit, but rather towards that of equipping the church. Thank you for your support.
Please print the application form for your pilgrim at http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php which includes the one that provides guidance on your role as sponsor. You will also need to get the pilgrim’s minister/pastor to sign consent as all pilgrims must be in good standing in their church.
Team formation and training will take place on 14 and 15 April, and on 21 April at Erica School. Please pay your fees of R950 at the meeting, but preferably earlier, as we journey with Lay Directors Russell Richards and Lynn Forman towards our May walks.
Supplies, agape needed
To off-set costs for the walks in May and in September, we are appealing for donations of air freshner, soap, tissues, sweets and biscuits (please check expiry date). Please respond to Sugnee at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can assist.
Accountability groups are also requested to contact the agape co-ordinator on the Board, Leone Maasdorp, at email@example.com soonest to facilitate planning around agape contributions.
Indeed, it is the generosity of our community that enables us to continue with the Emmaus programmes. We thank those who faithfully pledge each month, those who give donations and most recently, we acknowledge the kindness of Chris and Vanessa Scarr, who have donated a new sound desk.
As part of our commitment to fellowship and fundraising in keeping the flame of the Emmaus Walks and Chrysalis Flights burning brightly, we are seeking opportunities to visit you with a fun event – bingo/ music trivia or some other community-based occasion. We enjoyed the hospitality of Kenton-on-Sea and Bushmans late last year, and would like to spread the fun throughout the province. Come Jeffreys Bay, Cradock, St Francis … drop me a mail and let’s chat.
In concluding this newsflash, let us remember that this is the most holy period in the Christian calendar. For it is Easter when we can joyfully exclaim that He is risen. He is risen indeed.
Let’s continue to work to His glory in whichever way He calls us.
