Walks 73 and 74

Please keep the 38 women and 26 men pilgrims and teams of Walks 73 and 74 in your prayers as we prepare for the next two awesome weekends at Sumcay, starting on Thursday, 6 September.

As a reminder:

Walk needs

To help off-set costs in hosting the Walks, we welcome any donations of sweets, biscuits, candles and tissues. Please bring these items to send-off or preferably contact the lay directors Gary Williams (gwilliams.treemendous@gmail.com) or Erica Sing Key (ericasingkey@telkomsa.net).

Post Walk Gathering

We will welcome our new pilgrims to the PE Emmaus Community on Saturday, 29 September, at St John’s Methodist Church, in Havelock Street, Central, at 11am. The service will be followed by a bring and share lunch. Reminder to bring name tags, worship books, and wear bright colours and previous agape.

Events

Chinese/Bingo Evening

Thank you to everyone who supported the latter event on 25 August as part of the Board’s commitment to keep fun and fellowship between Walks and Flights as part of our Fourth Days. Close to 190 tickets were sold and R13832 was raised towards running this voluntary ministry in growing God’s kingdom.

Family gathering - Cape St Francis

Our Gamtoos community (St Francis Bay/JBay/Humansdorp) are hosting a Family Walk in Cape St Francis on Saturday 6th October.

We will meet at St Francis United Church in St Francis Bay at 9:00 am to drop off our eats and cooler boxes and then all drive out together to Cape St Francis where we will be escorted by a group who are passionate about our environment. They will guide the walk from Rocky Coast farm, past rock pools and the ocean and share their knowledge as we go along. It will be about 3km and will take approx 2hrs including stops along the way. We will then go to St Francis United for praise and worship, lucky draw prizes and lunch.

Bring your friends and families as we fellowship in true Emmaus spirit.  PE Community let's support them, get your accountability groups together, enjoy a day out with your Emmaus family.  For further information contact Karen du Preez on 079 563 1369.

New look website

We are busy modernising our website. Please check out work in progress as we aim at improving our connection with you. We welcome all input in making it as user-friendly as possible (please send to webadmin@pe-emmaus.co.za). Thank you to community members Shaun Gouws, Cayleigh Zambonini  and Vanessa Scarr for giving of their time and talents to do this. We want the site to become your go-to destination for all matters relating to the Emmaus ministry in the Eastern Cape. It is important the site is the best that it can be as we prepare to host the 2019 EMSA AGM.

Knitting ministry

Our community will be blessing next year’s EMSA AGM delegates with Emmaus blankets. If you would like to knit or crochet squares and/or sew the blankets as part of this ministry, please contact Jacquie Pullen on pullenjacquie@gmail.com

Motor support ministry

If you own a 4 x 2 bakkie or similar (capable of towing this trailer) and are able to give of your time in transporting supplies to and from training, and again to and from Walks, please contact me on cld@pe-emmaus.co.za as we wish to build up a list of  volunteers to support the supplies portfolio position on the Board. In fact, if you feel called to take on this portfolio – with or without a bakkie – please contact me.

We would also like to thank Gary and Jackie Williams who have blessed the community with their food trailer, which has been now been adapted to house all our Emmaus supplies. This will make transportation and storage of our goodies so much easier.
