Newsletter May 2008 - A message from our Community Lay Director
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
By the time you read this newsletter you will have realized that you had a divine appointment with our Father over the past weekend and that you were called “For such a time as this”. Port Elizabeth Emmaus Community welcomes all the pilgrims of Walk # 37 and Walk # 38 into the fold. Your newly adopted Emmaus family eagerly waited for this opportunity to accept you with open arms into God’s family.
I‘m sure that you think that you have just completed the most amazing journey of your Christian life? In reality this is only the beginning of an amazing and more intimate relationship with God - and it started with your obedience to His prompting to attend this Walk.
All our decisions affect our relationship with God. When we are disobedient, we separate ourselves from God and our prayers seem to go only as far as the ceiling – no further! That’s when we start to question why God has turned away from us or why we are feeling so lonely. The good news is that God is still there and He still hears our prayers and He still loves us. But He wants us to be obedient. Just like you were obedient this weekend, and you enjoyed a blessed Walk with our Lord! He wants to bless us through our obedience to Him and the structures He has given us to serve Him. Let us therefore be obedient servants to the Lord in all we do and say. Let us test what the Lord says to us through the Bible, because the Lord doesn’t contradict Himself. Let us not confuse our own will with God’s message!
It is my prayer that the Lord will make His face to shine upon you and your family as you enter your fourth day. May He keep you in the palm of His hand and bless you as you obediently serve our Almighty Father.
