PE Emmaus News Flash

Out and about, over and out …

A trip to Amanzintoti for the EMSA AGM, planning for the future and a changing of the guard has kept PE Emmaus Board busy as it focuses on new challenges, but especially the hosting of the annual general meeting for all Emmaus boards in 2019 and our own 20th birthday celebrations.

2018 has been a rewarding year in growing God’s kingdom, and 2019 promises to be even more exciting with so many exciting events to come, including our first set of combined Chrysalis Flights in June. Our young people will each enjoy flights during the same weekend. But more of this in the new year … other than to share application details.

Chrysalis Flights

To be part of this amazing weekend in which the lives of young people (16 to 24) are touched and changed, please become part of the team or sponsor an individual with leadership potential by downloading your form https://pe-emmaus.co.za/cteam.php  or https://pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php

The dates are 21 to 23 June at Cape Recife School, Summerstrand.

Supplies ministry – could this be for you?

We have a vacancy on the PE Emmaus board for the supplies and logistics portfolio. This position could be shared by a couple as it includes that of transporting the Emmaus supplies to Sumcay and to training, and ensuring that we have all the relevant supplies (tea, coffee etc). Alternatively, you would need to be able to organise members of the community to help with transport. All the supplies are kept in a trailer which can be hooked up to a bakkie for ease of use. Please contact Lianne Kritzinger on lianne.kritzinger@gmail.com

EMSA feedback

The Emmaus Ministries of South Africa (EMSA) AGM (Another Great Moment) was successfully held outside Durban earlier this month with about 86 delegates from 11 functioning communities in the country. We learnt about EMSA’s drive to grow Emmaus in Africa, community challenges around apathy, leadership and finances and the promise of new programmes, a new national go-to Emmaus website and new manuals. Indeed, much was learnt, especially in relation to our hosting of this event at the Willows in November next year.

A team has already been hard at work for 18 months to ensure we host a memorable AGM. Agape is being made, support plans for accommodation, transport, entertainment and the like are in place, and fundraising initiatives are underway.

The latter includes a raffle for a beautiful painting (picture on right) and a Woolworth’s voucher. Please contact Viv Barton on watprops@telkomsa.net to assist in selling these R20 tickets. This can you be your way of contributing to this important ministry.

Christmas blessings

Tis the season to rest, reflect and recharge those Emmaus batteries. Enjoy this time-out with those nearest and dearest to you, while never forgetting the real reason for the season.

Thank you

Finally, as I hand over the baton (nowadays, it’s a flash stick) to Lianne Kritzinger as the new Community Lay Director, allow me to acknowledge the commitment of the PE Emmaus Board, everyone who has worked on team, been a pilgrim or butterfly or has contributed to growing this ministry. Thank you! As the body of Christ, we know that when we work together, each with our own talents, we can do so much more for our Lord.
