PE Emmaus Newsflash

Changes to the Board

It is with great pleasure that we welcome the following people to the board; Patricia Scott in the Treasurer/Fundraising portfolio and Sydney Braam in the Supplies/Logistics portfolio. We also welcome Charmaine Potgieter to the prayer vigil/request position. We say goodbye to Clare Wyatt-Goodall and Bobbi Lake. Thank you both for your commitment to the furthering of the kingdom.
Emmaus programmes - sponsorship is key

The Emmaus ministry with its various programmes – Walks, Flights, Face to Face and Journey to the Table – all have the same end goal: to inspire, empower and equip people to grow the Lord’s kingdom here on earth.
These programmes are not aimed at simply providing Christians with a blessed weekend experience or for “fixing” those who have be experiencing tough times, but rather to help deepen an individual’s relationship with God. That purpose will include being a disciple – serving the church and community.

When you appreciate the why of Emmaus, then you better appreciate the importance of good sponsorship. Please go to our PE Emmaus website to learn more - http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/sponsorship.php

Ask the Lord to help you discern which young person you should spiritually sponsor for the forthcoming June Flights. He might even lay a person on your mind to sponsor for the Emmaus walks in Sptember.
Spiritual sponsorship entails prayer and practical support. You will need to get your pilgrim to and from Sumcay, ensure that all is take care of during their time on the walk, and continue to walk alongside them after the weekend as they enter their Fourth Days. Many of us can share what great joy sponsorship brings, simply by witnessing the growth and change in these individuals, especially as they enter new ministries or rekindle existing ones and grow God’s kingdom

Applications forms for caterpillars and/or pilgrims

Applications for you to sponsor pilgrims are now open, so go online http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php
to print out the forms which need to be signed by you and by the pilgrim’s minister since all pilgrims need to be in good standing in their own churches.

A few team spots available

Thank you to those who responded to the call to serve on the combined chrysalis flights. You will be blessed for your commitment. We have just a few slots left that need to be filled. Don’t miss out on this opportunity where you will be richly blessed as you serve the Lord. Go to link https://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/cteam.php

Special message from our Chrysalis Lay Directors

Do you know of any caterpillars with the potential of becoming beautiful butterflies?
Do you remember when you received your cross on your walk or flight and were told by your lay director that Christ is counting on YOU? Well He is counting on all of us to help spread his Word. One of the ways to do this is to equip our youth spiritually for what lies ahead in their lives. What better way to do this than sponsor a young person on a Chrysalis flight.
Announce the flights at your church! Approach parents and youth leaders! As EMSA have given us a deadline we need the caterpillar applications to start coming in, so please don’t wait a day longer. Christ is counting on you!

PE EMSA AGM @ THE WILLOWS (7-10 November 2019)
Please come on board as a community! We need volunteers for the AGM weekend and we need sponsors in order to keep this ship afloat.
We have received a generous donation of R2000 from the Cradock Methodist Church. They are now challenging all other churches to match or better their donation. Be bold and approach your church family.

Please contact Stella Swanson (083 227 9479) if you able to help in any way

Please try to support ALL the Emmaus fundraising efforts this year. The financial implications on the PE Emmaus Community, of hosting the AGM, are a real challenge.

With the Lord on our side we know can do it.
