News - Full Report
of AGM wishlist, caterpillars, raffle
Good day to all the Emmaus family. This month there are only a few items in our newsflash but they are very important.
2019 AGM WISHLIST!
Thank you to all who have responded thus far! As you are all aware our Community is working incredibly hard in preparation for the hosting of the 2019 AGM in the Friendly City. As Emmaus, folk it will be a privilege to show Christian hospitality to our national and international guests.
Saturday 9 November, 3pm for a High Tea YOU are invited. (Invitations to follow)
Please remember NO donation is too small! An AGM is very similar to a Walk or Flight and so our needs are similar and yet different. Please chat to members of your Accountability group, your Church congregation and Emmaus friends regarding contributions.
Here are a few suggestions. Perhaps you could help in some way:
1. Cakes and savouries for our Birthday High-Tea. Ingredients are most welcome too. This aspect is being co-ordinated by Gillian Preller.
2. Protea wine bottles and chutney bottles (For floral décor). Fresh flowers and greenery from your garden. (Required on Thursday morning 7 November).
3. Serviettes, candles, overlays, fairy lights etc. Elize Olivier is the Chapel and décor lady.
4. Your vehicle and/or drivers for transport, to and from P. E. airport to the Willows (17kms). Petrol and/or diesel donations. (Delegates arrive 7 and 8 Nov and depart 9 and 10 Nov).
5. Tea, coffee, sugar, sweets, fruit, biltong, droëwors, peanuts, chips etc – for a welcome pack. Linda Liddell is the co-ordinator.
Please consider helping in some way. Monetary contributions are also most welcome!
For any queries or for the telephone numbers of the people mentioned above, please contact me.
Thank you, love and De Colores.

Please pray regularly for our combined Chrysalis Flights from 21st to 23rd June at Cape Recife. We give glory and thanks to the Lord for full teams.
However... yes there is unfortunately a... however.
In order for the flights to take place we need caterpillars... ages 16-23 years. I can imagine how different my life would have been if I had had a deeper relationship with the Lord from early on, can you?
We are in the privileged position to be able to make this special deeper relationship possible for the young person of today.
How you might ask? Well its actually quite easy! Sponsor a youngster for chrysalis.
Pray that God will reveal a young person who needs to experience the love of God and be equipped to either become a leader or improve their existing leadership skills within their congregations.
Approach your youth group or youth group leader and maybe sponsor a few either as a spiritual sponsor or a financial sponsor.
Get your Reunion group involved by praying for the upcoming flights, and organizing gifts of agape which could also include snacks for the conference room or a donation towards the fruit table.
For gift agape ideas, please check out Pinterest and search for ‘Chrysalis Agape Ideas’ for a good selection of items to do. Please contact Felicity Francis on 082-2022328 if you are able to contribute.
The deadline for caterpillar entries will be somewhere around the 2 May. Should we not have the required numbers needed to justify a flight by this time; the flights will sadly be in jeopardy of being cancelled.
Please download the Caterpillar form https://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php for completion and urge you to prayerfully commit, complete and return the same expediently. (Only 20 girls and 20 boys will be accepted).
We do realise that the flight coincides with many church Holiday Club dates, so as a parent/grandparent, you will need to discern which is more important at this stage of their lives. We only have Chrysalis flights every second year so the next one will be in 2021.
Chrysalis is a great tool in sharing God’s love and the Emmaus experience with the younger generation.
Make your Fourth Days an active one in your Next Steps as a member of Christ’s Church. We are Counting on Christ and Christ is Counting on You.
We only have a month or two left to raise funds with our current raffle. As you know, we are hosting the AGM this year and we need funds to make this event a very special one for the national Emmaus Community. (To put Port Elizabeth on the map).
The tickets are only R20 each:
1st prize is a beautiful painting valued conservatively at R6000
2nd prize is a R1 500 gift voucher for Walmer Park Shopping Centre.
There are 10 sheets left, each with 25 tickets, please take a ticket from any board member or better still please consider taking a sheet, encouraging your accountability group, their and your family and friends, to buy a ticket or three? Contact Viv Barton 082 880 5099 for raffle sheets or to take a ticket.
The draw will be done at the JOL (post flight gathering) 13 July 2019.
