EMSA Welcome to the FamilyDear fellow Pilgrim,
Every successful moment in life, has a beginning. These three days were the beginning of a new successful journey with God. I am sure that these three days were a life changing experience for you, and that you now better understand the words of Christ to His disciples in Matthew 20:26
“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” On page 32 in the Emmaus Service Book we pray that the Holy Spirit will make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world. These words are a huge responsibility on our shoulders, but by the words of Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” this can be achieved.
The purpose of Emmaus is to develop Christian Leaders to be more dedicated and equipped for the service in their local community. Jesus was walking with the disciples to a town called Emmaus. In the same way, He was walking alongside you during the last few years or months or more intensely, during the last three days. By the breaking of the bread, their eyes were opened and they were filled with revelational knowledge, as you have been, by your experiences over these three days.
When Jesus disappeared from their midst, the disciples ran back to Jerusalem to inform the other disciples of their encounter with Jesus. Very soon, your walk to Emmaus will come to an end. Then you will go back to your family, friends and your local church. Are you going to run back to them and tell them about your experience with Jesus, or are you going to keep it all for yourself?
I hope that you will become more involved in Emmaus in order to grow spiritually as well as to develop your Christian leadership. By serving on the team, you will be able to learn to work within the body of Christ and to love as you have been loved. Working on a team will also give you the opportunity to serve other Pilgrims on their road to Emmaus, as the team of this Walk has served you in order to give you the opportunity to meet Jesus face to face.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God our Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you to enable you to live a Christ-centered life.
Always remember “CHRIST IS COUNTING ON YOU!
”and may your response ever be “AND I AM COUNTING ON CHRIST!”
Yours in Christ’s service,
