Our cut-off date for caterpillars for the July Flights (girls: 7 - 9 July; boys 14 - 16 July) is on Thursday 25 May, but we are extending the deadline until early June. This is mainly to accommodate those young people (aged 17 to 24) who are awaiting news of sports and other commitments during the school and varsity holidays before signing up to Chrysalis.

We are excited to host these Flights - the first in two years - and urge you not to miss out on the opportunity to invest in a young person's life. We have more than 30 caterpillars signed up as of last week. Download the forms on http://www.pe-emmaus.co.za/applicationforms.php

Ladies Reunion Tea - 16 former Lay Directors are hosting tables on Saturday 27 May at 3pm at St John’s Anglican Church, Walmer. There are still a few tickets available. Contact Charmaine Potgieter on registrar@pe-emmaus.co.za to secure yours at R75.

Music Trivia - A second music trivia, this time at Walmer Methodist Church, will be hosted on Saturday 10 June, with tickets at R60 each.

Praise and Worship - Please diarise Saturday 5 August for a morning of praise and worship Emmaus-style at St John’s Methodist Church in Central.

As part of the community’ ongoing quest to become "financially viable" in off-setting the costs of walks and flights, we are also holding a raffle at R50 a ticket to win a Karoo lamb, with other meaty consolation prizes. Help sell the tickets by contacting Viv at gatherings@pe-emmaus.co.za or calling 082 880 5099 or by buying a ticket or three. The draw will take place at the gathering on 5 August. Thank you to those who are selling tickets throughout the province.

Planning for an exciting Emmaus future

The Port Elizabeth Emmaus Community will celebrate its 20th birthday in 2019 and host the annual general meeting of the country's 12 Emmaus Ministry communities then too.   But if you think this is far into the future, please know that the 2017 PE Emmaus Board strategic planning session looked five years ahead in imagining the kind of community we would like to be by 2023.
