PE Emmaus Newsflash

Warm greetings to you at the beginning of the second half of 2021.   How time flies when you are not looking!

Covid still has us in its grips resulting in continuous lockdown mode – we’ve been through a lot from having to stay isolated, not being able to worship together for a while at our churches, not even being able to be together at a GATHERINGBUT, here is the good news!  SEE BELOW!

And for some of us, there has been deep sadness in our lives because of the loss of loved ones – for this, know that your grief and pain of missing is shared by us on the Board and that our prayers are with you.

We don’t know what the future holds for us, but we go forth in faith and trust with the guidance and prompting of the Holy Spirit.   Nothing can put us down!   We have our first FACEtoFACE encounter (see details below) and things are really coming together in a wonderful way.  God is good!!

But, through all of this, Romans 8:28 comes to mind.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

We are a community that loves the Lord, that cares about each other and shares the love of Christ.    So, I pray that your hearts and souls will be filled with the Spirit, to help you be STRONG, loving and kind through the tough times, JOY-FILLED, loving and kind through the good times (and there are good times even through this pandemic) and GENEROUS, loving and kind where you can.

As we navigate the second half of 2021, we pray for a release from this pandemic, for life to return to a time of being able to meet, to hug, to sing with full voice and to hold Walks again!

Grace and blessings!

Kerryn

Food for thought on our Emmaus experience.

One Sunday morning after the reading of  1 Peter 2 :4-5+9, I asked a question.. "Will all priests please stand?" ..No response. I repeated the question after reading the verses again. A few people stood up. By the 5th reading and asking the same question the whole congregation was standing, except for an ordained clergy person's daughter and two other folk...

The priesthood of all believers was God's will for all of Israel's people.(Ex 19:6 A kingdom of priests) The priesthood of all believers was God's plan for all Israel, but it was never fulfilled in the Old Testament. In 1 Peter 2:4-5+9 Peter defines the priesthood of all believers.... as a

"holy priesthood.... chosen people, royal priesthood, holy nation, God's special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you...."

The priesthood of all believers levels the playing ground of believers....laity and clergy.    They are on the same turf and playing the same game in the same gameplan... for the Kingdom of God...with Jesus as High Priest and King. They are to work together in God's vineyard.    So, what is a priest....It is someone who represents God to the people, and anyone who represents the people to God...and anyone who has experienced God's love, acceptance and forgiveness and helps others to experience grace.   This is a priest as part of the royal priesthood. All believers in Jesus share in this priesthood by the grace of God.    The mission of the priesthood of all believers is to make Christ real for people in all circumstances,  to be channels of God's grace ... and that is to share love, forgiveness, acceptance of others and to proclaim the mighty acts of God. In the times we find ourselves the challenge is TO BE WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST. STAND AND BE WHO WE ARE...A ROYAL PRIEST..

Blessings to you all.

Ronnie

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome MICHAEL NEWCOMBE to the Board who will be taking up the post of SUPPLIES/LOGISTICS.   We pray that as he serves in this position, he will find it fulfilling and fun-filled!

Agape is always needed and welcomed.   It’s fun to be creative and to make these little gifts that bring so much pleasure to those who receive them.   Why not get your Accountability group to make some agapé or as an individual you can create something special?   If you need ideas, just drop me a line and I will send you a list of suggestions:    cld@pe-emmaus.co.za

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit

(Romans 15:13)
